MākuSafe has been a longtime collaborator with Safeopedia and National Safety Council. Most recently, Tamara Parris facilitated a discussion with Emily Whitcomb of National Safety Council and Aanna Hoch of MakuSafe about effects of wearable technology on human capital management, ESG and EHS practices. They dive into a conversation about the safety maturity curve, the different levels of the curve and share some practical examples of the impacts of wearable technology in the workplace.

Emily Whitcomb is the Director, Work to Zero at the National Safety Council Emily heads up the Work to Zero initiative at the National Safety Council. Supported by a grant from the McElhattan Foundation, Work to Zero uses decades of insight, data and an unparalleled network of safety leaders to identify the most promising technological innovations for eliminating workplace deaths. In short, Work to Zero will serve as a hub of digital transformation in safety. Emily joined NSC in 2014 as a research associate, conducting program evaluation for community, transportation and workplace injury prevention programs. She then became senior program manager and subject matter expert for the NSC fatigue initiative. She created the NSC Fatigue Cost Calculator, which makes the business case for organizations to address fatigue, and forged partnerships to expand resources, information and expertise for the program. Before coming to NSC, she served as prevention specialist at the Institute for Public Strategies in San Diego and was a research associate at Advance Health Solutions.

Aanna Hoch is the Client Executive at MakuSafe Aanna serves as a liaison between external customers and internal departments; synthesizes data to tell a compelling story that can change / drive behavior or decisions; manages multiple pilot projects ensuring all stakeholders and clients are heard and informed; leads and interacts with other employees to resolve customer concerns; identifies needs of strategic partners and sets priorities accordingly.
