Renae Ruschill, COSS, Lead Product Designer

Renae Ruschill is a designer, developer, and creator who brings years of interactive design & consulting experience, having worked for Fortune 500 companies as well as early-stage startups. She has served as a board member for the Art Directors Association of Iowa for the past five years, and a council member of the Iowa State Graphic Design Advisory Council for the past two. Renae is also a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS).

Renae grew up in northwest Iowa, but has been in Des Moines ever since graduating magna cum laude from Iowa State University’s graphic design program. Though Renae’s focus is in design, she has also become a savvy front-end developer and has found code to be a great tool for implementing her work.

In her role here, Renae will continue to improve the user interface of the MākuSmart application as well as contribute to brand and marketing efforts.

Renae formally joined the team in March 2021, after consulting for MākuSafe for nearly two years. She resides in Urbandale, Iowa with her amazing husband Brandon and their three cats. She enjoys a wide variety of hobbies including culinary endeavors, fantasy novels, seasonal anime, and spring mushroom foraging.
