May 14, 2025
May 14, 2025 – WEST DES MOINES, IA – MākuSafe® is proud to announce its recognition as a leading technology provider in the National Safety Council’s (NSC) 2025 Work to Zero Safety Innovation Challenge. This honor reflects MākuSafe’s ongoing commitment to helping organizations protect workers through real-time, data-driven safety solutions.
As a result of this recognition, MākuSafe became eligible for participation in NSC’s new Work to Zero Heat Stress Pilot Grant Program—an initiative aimed at combating rising workplace heat hazards through the use of cutting-edge technology.
Further underscoring the impact of MākuSafe’s wearable technology, two organizations have partnered with MākuSafe and were selected by NSC to receive grant funding to support pilot deployments focused specifically on heat stress prevention. Brasfield & Gorrie and United Rentals will be using MākuSafe’s wearable environmental and motion-sensing technology to gather data on heat exposure, physical exertion, and other key risk factors, enabling early intervention to prevent heat-related illness and injury.
“We are honored to support these pioneering employers as they take meaningful steps to address occupational heat stress,” said Tom West, VP and Global Practice Leader of MākuSafe. “This recognition from the National Safety Council reinforces the role that wearable safety technology plays in proactive risk reduction and saving lives.”
The Work to Zero Heat Stress Pilot Grant program is funded by the McElhattan Foundation and designed to help organizations evaluate and implement promising technologies in real-world work environments. Results and insights from the pilots will help scale effective solutions across industries.
