MākuSafe Contributes to 0.0 TRIR on Data Center Construction Projects – The Weitz Company
February 6, 2023
MākuSafe is proud to work with the forward looking leadership team at The Weitz Company, part of Orascom Construction PLC. The Weitz Company has shared that they have attained a 0.0 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) over more than 31 months on Mission Critical projects. This is a spectacular achievement! We congratulate The Weitz Company and their Mission Critical Team, and are so happy that our workplace wearable technology has contributed to their success. Their dedication to worker safety, willingness to embrace innovative solutions, and tenacious desire to design a path beyond piloting to implementation and operationalizing tech are admirable and should be a model for others!
The Weitz Company was the first construction company to use MākuSafe and has grown to be one of our larger clients. They have put MākuSafe to work on multiple job sites, covering not only their workers but also subcontractors with our wearable safety technology. MākuSafe is used daily on data center project sites which are managed by their “Mission Critical” facilities team. This team is responsible for:
- 300+ Megawatts constructed in the last two years
- 20+ Data centers built globally totaling $1.5 billion
- 175+ Critical facilities projects constructed by the global group totaling over $20 billion
The team at The Weitz Company recently shared their results with the public in a white paper. In this white paper, Kassi Zenor, Project Executive – Mission Critical and Greg Martin, Vice President and General Manager – Mission Critical, explain how emerging technology and process innovation can lead to safer job sites and protect workers. MākuSafe has equipped Weitz Safety Leaders on Mission Critical job sites with the necessary data to predict and correct potential hazardous issues. Weitz was the first construction company to utilize this technology nearly two years ago and has seen an immediate positive impact since that time.
“In order to really create that culture of safety, you have to live it. That means having the tools available, and leaders that model that safety culture.” Greg Martin, Vice President & General Manager, Mission Critical, The Weitz Company
