Cargill Awarded NSC Grant to Pilot MākuSafe Wearable Technology for Ergonomic Risk Reduction
July 7, 2025
MākuSafe is proud to announce that Cargill has been selected as a 2025-2026 Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) Solutions Pilot Grant recipient by the National Safety Council (NSC). This prestigious award will fund a safety technology pilot in which Cargill will deploy MākuSafe’s wearable technology and data analytics platform to identify and reduce ergonomic risks among its workforce.

The NSC awarded a total of $300,000 in grants this cycle, with Cargill among five organizations selected to evaluate innovative safety technologies. Through this grant, Cargill will explore how MākuSafe can help create detailed risk profiles and provide early identification of workplace hazards that contribute to MSDs — the most common and costly workplace injuries in the U.S.
The MākuSafe solution, which includes wearable armband sensors and the MākuSmart® platform, captures real-time data on physical exertion, motion patterns, and environmental conditions. These insights enable safety professionals to pinpoint sources of strain and exertion, take proactive action, and re-engineer workflows to reduce risk and injury. Cargill’s pilot aims to demonstrate how this technology can enhance ergonomic assessments and support sustainable injury prevention strategies across industrial environments.
“We’re thrilled to support Cargill in this important effort,” said Gabriel Glynn, CEO of MākuSafe. “Their leadership in workplace safety and their commitment to innovation make them an ideal partner in the pursuit of MSD prevention. We’re confident this pilot will show how practical, non-invasive technology can deliver real-time insights to make work safer.”
Findings from the pilot will be presented at the 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo, contributing to the growing body of evidence supporting next-generation solutions for workplace injury prevention.
